I just finished sewing the Patchwork Skirt from Pink Fig Designs and absolutely adore the end product, it is extremely girly and to make it even girlier the twirl factor is amazing. This skirt can have so much variety and I see myself sewing one for the fall with different colors. The best part of all? No pattern pieces!
The directions though were extremely complicated to follow and at some points did not really make sense so I ended up having to guess and see what happened in the end. I do have some sewing experience(Intermediate sewer) so I was able to get through the tough unexplained steps but for a beginner I can see this being a large problem and discouraging the sewer.
To save my sanity I used a quilters cotton charm pack of squares so they were all the same size. I love how the fabrics go together and are bold and funky just like the girl who is wearing it! I probably would not use anything but light weight cotton for this, anything more would be too bulky, especially with all the seems.
There is a ton of sewing together of pieces and top stitching involved in this!
All in all I will definitely use this pattern again but I would caution the beginner to try another skirt and gain some experience before attempting this pattern!
