Her middle name is Faith and her first is Leah. She is petite for her age and when she is lined up against her class mates she is a good 5 inches shorter then the others, but she has the faith of a minister, the spunk of a teenager, the touch of a mother and the love of an infant.
Tonight I carried her small worn out body to bed and watched her small toes curl up under the covers. The places those feet have been. The places those feet will go. Her toes have chipped apple red nail polish on them from the neighbor girl who painted them, there is a speck of dirt on her big toe and some blue chalk on the sole of her foot.
Oh the places these feet have been, on the warm sand of the beach and the cold snow in New England.
I am even more enthralled with where these feet will go. They will pedal a bike, push the gas on a car, walk her down the aisle to meet her husband, take her to meet her first child. They will hold her up during the long nights of mother hood, support her when she sees the love in her own daughters eyes.
These feet will make a difference one day.
But for now these feet can focus on having fun, simply dancing, and radiating the faith and joy of the little girl who owns them.
